Backups & a new phone

Move your dog’s records to a new iPhone

A new phone should still feel like their home. A recordbook backup carries your dogs, care, photos and journals with you.

  1. Save a complete backup

In Paws & Days, open Today → Settings → Create backup. Save the file in your own iCloud Drive, or copy it to another device. Leave enough free space for the complete copy; the backup can include up to 8 GB of photo files.

  2. Check the copy before changing phones

In Files, check the backup finished saving. A file kept only under “On My iPhone” cannot protect against losing that phone. Keep the old phone and your original backup until you have checked the restore.

  3. Review, restore, then check

On the new iPhone, open Paws & Days → Settings → Restore from Files. Choose the backup and review its contents. Confirm to replace the visible recordbook, then check your dogs, care history and photos. The previous recordbook is kept as a local recovery copy.
